The best Taekwondo school in town, where my son has been attending since 2019, is Victory Martial Arts. The instructors are all world-class and highly knowledgeable.
Kaitlyn Vong, who came from Victory Martial Arts, has even landed top ten in the world!
Kurt Shryock, the owner of the school, is a seven degree black belt and is a grandmaster himself.
The environment at this school is competitive and fosters teamwork. Each student receives individual attention and is given the opportunity to shine.
Victory Martial Arts also provides one-on-one lessons to students, students can join weapon classes that include the Bo Staff and Kamas.
One of the teams formed within the Victory Martial Arts community is the Demo Team, which performs weapons, skills, and tricks at events like birthday parties, tournaments, and school functions. Children at Victory Martial Arts have opportunities to compete in tournaments at the international, US-wide, or state-wide level.
We feel blessed to be a part of this community and consider Victory Martial Arts our second family. Overall, Victory Martial Arts is an amazing place for kids and adults to build confidence, courage, and leadership skills with themselves

VMA is hands down The best Taekwondo school in the DMV area. My kids have been training with Master Kameron for almost 2 years and they love it, learning the forms, kick combos, sparing, with a helping of discipline. VMA is highly, highly recommended.

I've seen a dozen "sports" martial arts demonstrations on social media. And most of them were......laughable. Then I saw Kaitlyn Vongs demo and..... Honestly it was the best performance I've ever seen at these, her acrobatics were impressive and the routine was entertaining. But the most surprising thing was that her technique didn't suffer as a result. All of her strikes were focused, disciplined and controlled. She displayed real technique and skill and it wasn't just a "show". I know nothing else about your school, but if this is what you teach then I am truly impressed.

My 3 boys are students of Master Kurt and both my elder kids got blackbelt 1st degree and now my youngest son would be testing. I have been coming to VMA for the past 8 years and I made good friends here and Master Kurt, Master Kaitlyn, Master Bu Odera, Sbn Kameron are all great teachers and very affectionate with my children. VMA is an outstanding taekwondo school. Master Kurt and his staff are very dedicated to their students (mostly grade school kids), and their students are very dedicated to them. Both of my kids have gone here and earned their black belts. This is not a belt factory - the kids are not tested until they are ready, and they have to perform well to earn their belts. The perspective that you need to learn to work hard to achieve your goals seems to be found in fewer and fewer places these days. This concept is alive and well at Victory Martial Arts, thankfully. Students learn lessons about hard work, team work, discipline and perseverance that they don't learn (as well) at school. VMA gets my highest recommendation!

My son started Taekwondo at VMA in January 2023. We are new to this but we've found it to be an excellent studio with some incredible instructors whose CV's are quite impressive - more than one ranking in the top 10 in worldwide competition. They are fantastic with the children, teaching respect, fighting skills, and discipline, while keeping things fun. Master Kurt has put together a school anyone should be proud to be a part of.

My son has been learning at VMA for almost 2 years. We toured several places and chose this one. We just wanted him get some exercise to build his body strength. The training was intense but fun. He loved training here and he is proud to be a senior belt now! We love all the teachers here including Master Kurt, Master Kaitlyn, Master Odera, Master Kameron, and other young teachers! Master Kurt also provides us information about tournaments so the kids can have some real competition experience and that’s very helpful too. Another plus is this location is so close to Costco and it’s very convenient to do some quick shopping or gas filling while he trains here.
